Tree Planting in Poppy Wood, Derbyshire

March 2012 – April 2025

It is hard to believe, it was on 2nd March 2012 our then latest tree planting took place in Poppy Wood, Melbourne, Derbyshire, with a total of sixty-eight trees being planted by fc cartons…. Well, when we say planted – we actually sponsored that number and David and Debra planted ‘a number’ of trees to show our support and commitment.

We could have lost them both for the week if they’d had to plant all of them! Companies and individuals took part in the event in Poppy Wood which is only a few miles from our production facility.

We had signed up to the National Forest Business Benefits Scheme back in February when we made the decision to support a more local tree planting scheme after five years of supporting the Tree Appeal scheme and this gives us the opportunity to work in partnership with the National Forest in the creation and continuing development of the forest.

By 2019 Poppy Wood had been established and was being enjoyed by many 100s of visitors whilst making a fantastic environmental contribution.

13 years later, after our first visit and contribution, we thought it would be great for Team fc to re-visit Poppy Wood, we are immensely proud of our continued support over the years and congratulate the National Forest for this and many other fantastic achievements. Walking through Poppy Wood and the surrounding woodland Team FC are very proud and were delighted to hear what the National Forest think of our contribution:

We are very grateful for the support of businesses, like FC Cartons, whose contributions help to support our work planting trees, creating new woodlands, managing wildlife habitats, and supporting people and businesses to enjoy and benefit from this new wooded landscape.’
