Joe approached us earlier in the year and asked if we could provide a work experience opportunity for him, it was clear from our conversation that Joe loved the idea of being a chef. We talked about our business being primarily food & drink packaging.
Joe joined us 1st July – after his induction he spent Monday and Tuesday in the sales office, we provided lots of information about the business, the type of jobs we had amongst the team, a who’s who and had a guided tour of our production facilities.
On Wednesday Joe got a taste of working in the production area, assisting with packaging the finished cartons – nested trays for soft fruit & veg.
Thursday & Friday Joe worked in the innovation and development facility, Joe was very interested to understand how the CAD system operated in aiding the design of cartons. The feedback from our Production technologist was very positive – he asked a lot of questions and was very interested in how the computer software worked out the design & profiles. He went home that afternoon with a crash lock carton he had designed and a finished sample – Joe’s parents were very impressed.
On Friday Joe designed and produced a pair of cardboard glasses of which he was very proud of.
Team fc Q & A feedback:

“He had really enjoyed the experience and had learnt how to produce boxes”
“He does not want to work in a factory”
“He is still looking to work with food, ideally as a chef or Restaurant owner” – Interestingly similar to the start of our M.D’s career:
Best thing about the week:-
“Making the cardboard glasses & learning to use the CAD system”
Meeting the friendly and helpful fc team
